Operating Steps
  • STEP 1
Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced sausages and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the sausages from the skillet and set aside.
  • STEP 2
In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and the finely chopped onion. Sauté until the onion is soft and translucent. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
  • STEP 3
Sprinkle the flour over the onion and garlic mixture, stirring constantly for about 1-2 minutes to cook out the raw flour taste. Gradually add the beef or chicken stock, stirring constantly to avoid lumps, until a smooth sauce forms. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and tomato paste.
  • STEP 4
Return the sausages to the skillet, add the frozen peas or mixed vegetables, and simmer for 5-10 minutes until the sauce has thickened and the vegetables are tender. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Transfer the sausage mixture to a baking dish that fits into your air fryer.
  • STEP 5
While the filling is cooking, place the chopped potatoes in a large pot of salted water. Bring to a boil and cook until the potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
  • STEP 6
Add the butter, milk or cream, and sour cream (if using) to the potatoes. Mash until smooth and creamy. Stir in the fresh parsley (if using) and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • STEP 7
Preheat your air fryer to 180°C (360°F). Spoon the mashed potatoes over the sausage filling in the baking dish, spreading it out evenly. If desired, sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese over the top of the mashed potatoes.
  • STEP 8
Remove the baking dish from the air fryer and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve hot, garnished with additional fresh parsley if desired.
